Developed based on Makita’s experience with professional 23 cc gasoline-powered chainsaws, it combines the convenience of battery power with high cutting performance, offering immediate response and precise control of the tool.

Makita’s powerful brushless motor ensures rapid acceleration and a chain speed of up to 24 m/s, allowing for quick and repeated cuts during professional pruning operations. The absence of a traditional gasoline engine eliminates the need to prepare fuel mixtures and allows for immediate startup, making the DUC258Z particularly practical for tasks that require frequent starting and stopping of the machine.

One of the main strengths of the Makita DUC258Z Top Handle is its excellent balance of performance, weight, and maneuverability. The machine body has a net weight of just 1.8 kg, while the operating weight with the battery ranges approximately from 2.6 to 3.0 kg depending on the battery used. The optimized center of gravity and the ergonomic Soft Grip handle allow for precise control of the chainsaw, helping to reduce fatigue during extended work sessions.

The Top Handle configuration makes the machine particularly compact and easy to handle. The 250 mm (10″) bar offers an excellent balance for professional pruning, allowing you to work precisely on branches and vegetation without the bulk typically associated with larger chainsaws.

Electronic speed control allows you to adjust the chain’s response to different working conditions, while automatic chain lubrication ensures smooth operation during cutting. The 140-ml oil reservoir, equipped with a level indicator, makes it easy to check the oil level and helps streamline daily maintenance tasks.

Special attention has also been paid to safety. The DUC258Z features both a mechanical chain brake and an electric brake, which help bring the chain to a quick stop. It also includes an anti-restart function, designed to prevent accidental restarting of the machine.
